Access to Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Denmark and Norway is provided by Smyril Line.

Sea transport to Shetland has been provided by NorthLink Ferries' fleet of ships since 1st October 2002.

Make sure that you book well in advance (online) if you want a cabin.

The backbone and mainstay of the Lerwick 'Up Helly-Aa' Fire Festival celebrations, which were held during the stormy and wet January of 2003.
